ICT Backtrack #14

Yay today we got an extension!!! As of now our 1.3 section isn't due until the 11th of November; after the Eid holiday!!! Today the ICT room was very hot so we went to the library; there Justine read us the book "Justine" and we discussed our plans for the course. Justine and Mr Fernandez then had a head on fight; France VS Scotland! Who do you think won?

ICT Backtrack #13

Nothing much happened this lesson; we continued with our presentations and I finally found a good background colour animation for my flash headings for the "1.4 The Digital Divide" PowerPoint presentation. I also talked with Shehhan about the "A plus" ICT course we might be doing, but nothing's been finalised yet...

ICT Backtrack #12

Hello again to another post of my exciting ICT lessons! Today we were informed that we don't have to follow Edexcel's ridiculous 15MB limit on Unit 1's portfolio. Any readers out there doing the same course will know how little the recources are for this course (mainly because its extremely new). Our ICT teachers found the first official recourse from Edexcel and have made a link to it from our school's site. Anyway, back to the lesson; teacher went for a meeting, so I looked through the worksheet he gave us (a printout of the examiner's comment of a candidate's unit 1 portfolio). I then sorted out my papers in my bag so that I had all the ICT worksheets, articles, etc.. organised.
Well then, write to you next lesson!

ICT Backtrack #11

Dear Viewers, today was a 'get on with it' lessson; we updated and printed our blogs to prove to our teacher that we kept up to date. I didn't need to update because I always keep it updated anyway... Anyway, Mr Fernandez liked the Neoworx code I had on my site so i put it as a comment on his course blog...

ICT Backtrack #10

Our ICT teacher photocopied the magazines we showed him yesterday. We briefly discussed the articles and then went our own ways and worked on our own...

ICT Backtrack #9

Hello again! Our room was booked during our lesson so we ended up going to the library. The computers were booked there as well so we all squashed ourselves to fit on a desk (unfortunately i didn't take a picture); Mr Fernandez had to stand for the entire lesson! He told us an overall review of our presentations; I am using them to correct my presentation now (even though we don't have to correct them until after the half term break). I took down some useful notes and we had a very fun activity at the end, where we had to find a magazine which showed something currently related to the 5 areas of our 1.1 presentation. I eventually found an article in the Time magazine talking about Sharp and how its competing with companies like Sony on the TV market...

Oh yeah Mr Fernandez also told us that he created a 'course blog' for us but forgot the address. He then told us that it didn't matter because on trying to remember the address, he found an as gce applied ict blog that contains useful stuff on the same course that we're doing! How convenient!

ICT Backtrack #8

I know you're dying to read about another exciting lesson in our ICT class! I know it can be very extremely fun to read, but for your own safety please to not go overboard :) Today we had a very intensely talkative lesson where we continued to dicusss the impact of ICT on certain individual's lives. While some liked the discussion more than others, I clearly feel that it was very useful; I always refer to our class discussions when I run out of ideas during my presentations and reports...

ICT Backtrack #7

Unfortunately Mr Fernandez, our ICT teacher, wasn't able to come to our class today. However, he did write a note telling us to continue our research on our new topic. I also enjoyed looking at Justine's facsinating pictures on her MSN space!

ICT Backtrack #6

In this lesson we basically discussed why we created the questionairres and what results we are expecting. We also laughed at how incompetant our parents are at using ICT!

We also started creating a grid aimed at being able to show the usage of different aspects of ICT amongst different types of people. Our task is to make sure both the grids and questionairres are completed and filled in by the end of next week.

ICT Backtrack #5

Our lesson today was actually quite fun. We were aiming to present our presentations, but I guess that we didn't have time. However, we did start a new topic called "1.3 Lives in the information age" and discussed it thoroughly, and were asked by our teacher to Create 3 questionairres; one for people our age, another for men and women in their 30-40's and the third one for seniors (preferebly retired). The aim for the questionairres is to asses what the different age groups feel about ICT and how they use it in their lives (if so). We should try and make sure that we can get our questionairres to 5 people of each group in the future.

ICT Backtrack #4

This lesson was very entertaining. I heard a range of excuses as to why people's presentations weren't ready for today (pathetic excuse #9 was a laugh!). I was among the few who actually copied my presentation onto Mr Fernandez's computer, ready to be presented. I also got some really good tips on what our presentations should do. Since we didn't present it today, i'll still do some more corrections on my presentation for the next lesson so that it can be even better, taking into account the things i've learnt today.
